ARI has held worldwide essay contests for students on Ayn Rand’s fiction for thirty years. This year we will award over 750 prizes totaling more than $130,000. Last year’s contestants read and responded to essay prompts on Ayn Rand’s Anthem, The Fountainhead or Atlas Shrugged. You can read all three winning essays on our essay contest page.

ARI has held worldwide essay contests for students on Ayn Rand’s fiction for more than thirty years. The goal is to expose young people to the thought-provoking ideas in Rand’s works. ARI is happy to announce the winner of the 2015 Anthem essay contest. Jessie Yates, a sophomore at Knob Noster High School in Knob Noster, Missouri, has been awarded the coveted top prize, $2,000 in cash.

Thanks to generous support from donors, ARI provides free copies of Ayn Rand’s works to teachers throughout the United States and Canada. Compared to the prior year, the 2014 – 15 school year marked a dramatic increase in books distributed. Nonfiction requests — including Virtue of Selfishness, Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal and Philosophy: Who Needs It — reached an all-time high.

ARI is giving away more than $67,000 in prize money to high school students who participate in its annual essay contests for Ayn Rand’s novels Anthem and The Fountainhead. This is your chance to take home cash to help pay for college, a new computer, tablet, gaming system or anything else you’ve been looking to buy. More than 400 students will be awarded cash prizes.

Ayn Rand’s novella Anthem has been nominated for the 1939 Retrospective Hugo Award in the Best Novella category for works published in 1938. The winner will be announced at LonCon 3, a World Science Fiction Convention held in London, England, from August 14 through 18, 2014.
