Three New Speakers at OCON 2014 in Las Vegas
We’d like to welcome Carl Barney, Hal Berenson and Tim Blum to our list of distinguished speakers at this year’s Objectivist Summer Conference, an annual gathering for fans of Ayn Rand.
Carl Barney is chairman of a group of private colleges comprising twenty campuses plus the online Independence University. He serves on the board of the Ayn Rand Institute and on the advisory board of Clemson University’s Institute for the Study of Capitalism. Mr. Barney’s is the vision behind ARI’s e-learning platform, ARI Campus. He will speak on a panel titled “Objectivism in Business” on July 3.
Hal Berenson is president of True Mountain Group LLC, which provides technology and management consulting, and is a former senior engineering executive at Microsoft Corporation and at Digital Equipment Corporation. While at Microsoft, he led the development of the SQL server. Mr. Berenson will speak on a panel titled “Microsoft and Antitrust” on July 2.
Tim Blum is executive vice president of HSA Commercial Real Estate in Chicago. His particular area of expertise entails adaptively reusing functionally obsolete buildings for retail purposes. He has developed over five million square feet of mixed-use and retail properties. Mr. Blum will speak on a panel titled “Objectivism in Business” on July 3.
