Leftists love citing countries like Sweden as proof that “democratic socialism” works. To set the record straight, I recently gave a campus talk, entitled “Sweden: Socialist Paradise or Egalitarian Nightmare?” at Emory University in Atlanta, GA.

In my talk I explained:

• Why Sweden became prosperous thanks to capitalism.

• Why Sweden is not and never has been socialist.

• Why oppressing Sweden’s most productive citizens with confiscatory taxes and threats of socialization led to economic decline.
