Elan Journo at the Leadership Program of the Rockies

Every year, The Leadership Program of the Rockies (LPR) in Denver, CO, organizes several full-day sessions intended to equip up-and-coming leaders in law, business, academia, policy and politics with the intellectual ammunition they need to become principled advocates of free markets and limited government. The theme for the session in May was national security and foreign relations, and LPR invited ARI’s foreign policy expert, Elan Journo, to give a talk. Among the other speakers were Dr. Peter Brookes, senior fellow at Heritage Foundation, and Brad Lips, chief executive of Altas Network.

In his talk, Elan sketched out what a truly capitalist foreign policy looks like. He argued that a proper foreign policy is one guided by the principle of individual rights, in contrast to today’s range-of-the-moment, unprincipled policy making.

Many attendees responded enthusiastically to Elan’s talk, praising him for clarifying America’s contradictory, self-defeating foreign policy. Several participants said that it was only after hearing Elan’s talk that they were able to understand what our government has been doing wrong in the years after 9/11. The eighty participants who attended his talk also received a copy of Elan’s book Winning the Unwinnable War: America’s Self-Crippled Response to Islamic Totalitarianism.
