Don’t Miss Tonight’s Free Speech Debate
Tonight’s ARI panel on free speech at UC Berkeley is all the more timely after a violent attack earlier this week led to the cancellation of an Institute event in London, U.K.
On Monday, Yaron Brook, ARI’s chairman of the board, and Carl Benjamin, the YouTube personality also known as Sargon of Akkad, were engaged in a discussion on Ayn Rand’s philosophy of Objectivism at King’s College London, when masked thugs suddenly stormed the stage. They intended to shut down the event.
The attackers, describing themselves as “anti-fascists,” also reportedly smashed windows, threw smoke bombs, set off the fire alarm, assaulted security guards and harassed audience members. Citing safety reasons, KCL administration decided to cancel the event.
This incident was one more reminder that the right to free speech is under attack. For years, ARI has been at the forefront of the intellectual battle to defend freedom of speech, and we invite you to join us tonight at 8 PM Pacific for a panel discussion and debate on free speech at UC-Berkeley.
Wherever you are in the world, you can watch the event: The discussion will be broadcast live on The Rubin Report’s YouTube channel.
Participating are Steve Simpson, director of Legal Studies at the Ayn Rand Institute; Heather Mac Donald, Thomas W. Smith Fellow at the Manhattan Institute; and Dave Rubin, creator and host of The Rubin Report.
