Capitalism vs. Communism
This year marks the passage of a century since the Bolshevik Revolution, which gave rise to the Soviet Union. With this in mind, we want to highlight this 1961 video, “Capitalism vs. Communism,” in which Ayn Rand notes: “No political-economic system in history had proved its values so eloquently or had benefited mankind so greatly as capitalism, and none has ever been attacked so savagely and blindly. Why did the majority of intellectuals turn against capitalism from the start? Why did their victims, the American businessmen, bear their attacks in silence?” In this video, Rand explains why capitalism is morally and economically superior to communism, and she identifies the “primordial evil” responsible for communism’s rise.
