The Ayn Rand Institute is on the front lines in the battle for Western culture. For more than thirty years, we’ve been advancing Western values like reason, freedom and individualism. As a part of our ongoing efforts to defend such Western values, we recently published two new books; namely Defending Free Speech by Steve Simpson and Failing to Confront Islamic Totalitarianism: From George Bush to Barack Obama and Beyond by Elan Journo and Onkar Ghate.

In this panel, ARI authors Elan Journo and Steve Simpson discuss the subject of their books, why they concentrate on issues like free speech and Islamic totalitarianism, how ARI’s predictions over the years illustrate the power of the Institute’s distinct philosophic perspective and what everyone can do to fight the erosion of our freedoms.

Simpson and Journo’s initial discussion is followed by an extensive Q&A session in which they touch on topics such as “Islamophobia,” the value of “offensive” speech, free speech on campus, the value of speaking up, the irrationality of America’s foreign policy and what motivates our enemies in the Middle East.
