Peter Schwartz is a writer and journalist, who has been writing and lecturing extensively on philosophy, ethics, capitalism, environmentalism, foreign policy and multiculturalism.
Schwartz is the author of The Battle for Laissez-Faire Capitalism, Libertarianism: The Perversion of Liberty and The Foreign Policy of Self-Interest: A Moral Ideal for America. He is currently seeking a publisher for his most recent book, “The Tyranny of Need: Examining the Code of Altruism.” He is a contributing author to The Voice of Reason: Essays in Objectivist Thought and editor of and contributing author to Return of the Primitive: The Anti-Industrial Revolution (an expanded version of Ayn Rand’s The New Left: The Anti-Industrial Revolution) and (with Marlene Podritske) co-editor of Objectively Speaking: Ayn Rand Interviewed.
Schwartz was the founding editor and publisher of The Intellectual Activist (1979 – 1991), a periodical that covered current events from a pro-individual rights viewpoint.
From 1994 to 2005, Peter Schwartz was chairman of the board of the Ayn Rand Institute. From 1987 to 2003, he was president and editor-in-chief of Second Renaissance Books, a publisher and distributor of works that presented the value of reason, science, technology and individualism. Peter Schwartz is a Distinguished Fellow at the Ayn Rand Institute.
