Out Now: In Defense of Selfishness: Why the Code of Self-Sacrifice Is Unjust and Destructive

On June 2, 2015, Peter Schwartz’s book, In Defense of Selfishness: Why the Code of Self-Sacrifice Is Unjust and Destructive, was published.

Using vivid real-life examples, ARI’s Distinguished Fellow Peter Schwartz shows the general reader why the rational egoist leads a self-respecting life of principle, honesty and productivity, why altruism creates conflicts and destruction, and why friendship and love are acts, not of self-sacrifice, but of self-interest.

In Defense of Selfishness has only been out for a couple of days, but it’s already doing considerably well. It’s currently #3, #4 and #5 on Amazon’s list of “Hot New Releases in Government Management,” #12 in “Government & Business,” #19 on “Economic Policy & Development” and “Economic Policy.”

Early reviews also indicate that the book is having the desired effect on the intended audience. See, for example, reviews on Goodreads.

Peter was recently asked to answer some important questions on the meaning of selfishness in an article for QuickAndDirtyTips.com. There you can also read a thought-provocative excerpt from the book.

If you have read In Defense of Selfishness, please let others know your thoughts by writing a review on, for example, Amazon, Goodreads or Barnes & Noble. And if you haven’t purchased a copy of it yet, then just do yourself a favor and order it today.

Peter will discuss the ideas in his book on a nation-wide speaking tour beginning next week. When will Peter be speaking in a city near you? Read more here.
